He was finally received as a guest by Lal Shankar Umia Shankar, a sub-judge of Ahmedabad District. During his stay here, he visited many places of historic interest, both in the city and in its environs. Previously known as Karnavati, it used to be the capital of the Sultans of Gujarat, and one of the handsomest cities in India. The Swami was fascinated by the Jaina temples, and by the splendour of Muslim culture as manifest in the mosques and tombs.
